Yep! They melted my face off!!!
Opening night of the Summer Shed Tour 2026 in Austin, Texas showcased Electric Avenue, Skillet, and Lecrae, with guests We As Human, Tedashi, Capital Kings. WHERE do I begin!! First of all, I would give the entire evening 10 stars, not just five! It is evident that God is the focus of their music and everything is done for His glory! God has truly blessed these artists with magnificent talents!!!
The concert was energetic, fun, and diverse as well as worshipful. It is refreshing to see these men and women doing what they love for the glory of God. Listening to the testimonies of various band members and hearing their stories made me appreciate them even more! God is so awesome!
Well, I'm a Panhead so that should tell you who I really enjoy listening to and watching! And that night was no exception. Skillet's new cd, Rise, is a hard-hitting, intense compilation of "in your face" reality! The lyrics tell it like it is and create a vivid picture of what is really happening in this world. They played songs from Rise and some re-mixes of other favorites......do you feel like a Monster???? (My favorite! well....on the Alive cd) John (Cooper) spares nothing of himself (nor do any of the other members of the band) during his performance. He leaves it all out on the stage every time! Quickly overtaking Monster (to me) is their new song, You Are My Religion. A catchy beat and melody that reminds me of what I imagine being a hard-rock chorus line. I love the part where they sing "Amazing Grace"....fun, fun, fun.
The creativity in using shooting flames to punctuate the music is awesome! What really took the show up another notch was the use of pyrotechnics! It gave me goose bumps! Skillet, you melted our faces off!! Again!! (I know you don't mean that literally, John.) We were sitting about 15 rows back on the main floor and yeah, we could feel the heat!
You ladies exemplify fashionable modesty!!! Korey and Jen, I'd also like to compliment you. Your outfits are GREAT! They're fun, original, and inventive WITHOUT being revealing or outlandish!! Skillet isn't just a band, it is an experience!! A Godly experience!! (I can鈥檛 wait until we are all in heaven together!! I want to be in the band and jam with these wonderful musicians!) Thank you!!! You have no idea how many little girls and young ladies out there are noticing that you CAN dress cool without exposing yourself.
Skillet is an exuberant group of Jesus freaks that takes God out of the box and into their hard rock style of music so that those who might not otherwise hear of Jesus, get to experience Him in a "language" they understand. And they never cease to amaze me each time I see them!
